New York State Senator, Honorable Shelley B. Mayer Visits Ebenezer Mar Thoma Church!
New York State Senator, Honorable Shelley B. Mayer visited our parish graciously accepting our invitation on February 2nd, 2025. Honorable Shelley Mayer came around 12 noon immediately after the Holy Communion service. Her visit to the Parish was quite encouraging and empowering.
The Parish Secretary Mrs. Susan Kurian and Vicar Rev. George Abraham warmly welcomed Ms. Shelley Mayer. During the Presidential address Vicar spoke about the valuable services done by the Senator as well as her strategies in implementing different initiatives as a public figure. Vicar Rev. George Abraham presented the Senator with a plaque as a sincere appreciation in recognition of her dedicated services, hard work, and countless contributions to the community. Honorable Senator, in her reply message spoke about her value to Academia, Health care, and Labor law rights. She spoke about her passion for children, their education, and upgrading the education system as well. Senator Ms. Shelley Mayer appreciated the warm welcome with flowers and plaque as well as the hospitality of the parish members.
Senator joined the fellowship lunch, took pictures with members as a group and individually and collaborated well with the parishioners. She expressed her interest in joining worship services and revisiting the parish to continue the friendship and fellowship with Ebenezer members. The Honorable Senator had spent almost two hours with the parish members, giving ample time to chat with her. Honorable Senator Ms. Shelley Mayer is serving as a Democratic member of the New York State Senate representing the 37th Senate District, which includes portions of Westchester County. Shelley was elected to the New York State Senate to represent the 37th District in an April 2018 Special Election, and she was subsequently re-elected in November 2018, 2020, and 2022.
